About Event

The Industry-Institute Conclave, organized by IPTeL, BeST, FSID, and I-HIPP, united leaders from academia, industry, and government to foster collaboration through networking, discussions, and skill-building. Professor GK Anantha Suresh’s inaugural address highlighted academia-industry bridging via the triple helix model, followed by a keynote by Rishikesha Krishnan on industry-academia collaboration for Indian tech leadership. Panels on technology transfer and faculty entrepreneurship, workshops on IP and patent drafting, and an IISc IP Showcase enriched the event. The event wrapped up with closing remarks from Professor Suryasarathi Bose, who highlighted the depth of insights shared and the collaborative momentum fostered throughout the day.

  • Event Overview: The Industry-Institute Conclave held on 4th May 2024, jointly organized by IPTeL, BeST, FSID, and I-HIPP, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders including industry leaders, entrepreneurs, faculty, researchers, policy makers, and students.
  • Inaugural Address: Delivered by GK Anantha Suresh, Dean of Mechanical Sciences at IISc, emphasizing the Triple Helix Model of Innovation and the importance of Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) in bridging academia and industry.
  • Keynote Address: Rishikesha Krishnan, Director of IIM-Bangalore, spoke on the role of industry-academia collaboration in advancing Indian technology leadership, sharing inspiring examples of innovation.

    • Technology Transfer: Success & Challenges – Insights from leaders at Honeywell, Mercedes-Benz R&D, Mynvax, Hind High Vacuum, and the Office of PSA, moderated by B Gurumoorthy.
    • Research Agreements & IP Ownership – Experts from Fraunhofer, IIT-Madras, Intel, and others discussed roadblocks and resolutions, moderated by Brinda Varma.
  • Faculty Entrepreneurship Talks: Professors from IISc shared their startup journeys in Gyroid Photonics, PolyMage Lab, and SciDentAI, showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit within academia.
  • Workshops:
    • Technology Transfer Strategies – Led by Magesh Nandagopal from CSIR-NCL.
    • Patent Drafting – Conducted by Ravi Kumar (Versuni) and Senthil Kumar (Hitachi Energy).
  • IP Showcase: Attendees explored cutting-edge innovations from IISc faculty, offering a glimpse into the future of technology.
  • Closing Remarks: Suryasarathi Bose, Professor of Materials Engineering, IISc, expressed gratitude and highlighted the collective contributions that made the conclave a success
